清晨，新娘头顶白巾，身穿新装，配戴手饰，由娘家两伴娘和舅舅等人往夫家送亲。迎亲队伍在途中要请送亲的人饮三遍酒，酒碗边抹上象征吉祥的酥油。至男方家门时，新郎父母用树叶蘸清泉水洒在新娘身上，意为洗尘。
婚礼中，新舅舅是来宾中最上等、最重要的客人，由他第一个品尝喜酒和肉块等食品。
舅舅要一边饮酒，一边故意挑剔、寻畔，以显示自己的尊严和娘家女儿的珍贵，也借此考验男方家的诚意。男方家见状，赶紧献上事先准备好的哈达和礼物，婚礼方顺利进行。
保留了母系氏族社会时期舅权的残余。客人多数自带酒食。
酒至半酣，主宾纷纷唱歌起舞，一曲未终，一歌又起，通宵达旦，两三天后，才尽兴而散。
